pointsizes in order to understand what I need to
change for the final business card copper plate.
It is evident that the type on the back of the business card
is too small. As above- the type has been eroded away
by the chemicals so much that the letters conjoin. There
was also a lot of trouble with the 'k' on the front- what
i've learned from this test is that everything has to be bigger.
So,
bigger type on both front and back:
The process of producing a blind embossed business
card without a commercial printer. Copper plate digital
photoetching. Image above shows the chemical bath
that strips away the negative design leaving either a
raised or lowered design to emboss with.
Below. Colour matching the litho printed navy with
water based inks for screenprinting.
A very annoying process, that if perfected will be worthwhile.
Individually cutting separate stock for business cards to duplex
later. Have to make sure they line up every time.
THEN EVERYTHING STARTED TO GO BALLS UP.
I thought about inking up so I tried it. Thinking it would
complement the rest of the branding. However, inking up
the copper plate was a lot harder than initially planned.
The paper stops the ink from touching the printed paper.
It is dirty and unclear. There were a lot of attempts.
They all went wrong. I persevered. Still wrong.
